Description
R2A & R2I master planned and designed both the new ground up +/- 150,000 sf Turfway Park entertainment facility to the original circa 1950’s Grandstand as well as to design the new +/- 42,000 sf extension facility to nearby in Newport, Kentucky.
Newport Racing & Gaming, includes an exciting lineup of entertainment venues consisting of: Historical Racing Machine (HRM) Facility, Simulcast Suite, Center Bar with food & beverage offerings as well as administrative offices and a back-of-house support program.
The design included the renovation of the existing building’s exterior façade and the complete demolition and fit-out of the interior spaces into an updated and contemporary entertainment center.
In 2021, R2A master planned and designed the 14,000 square foot expansion which consisted of a new area designated for smoking and the original gaming floor to remain smoke-free. The extended space also features a bar and allows a stage area for live entertainment and promotions in the non-smoking gaming area.
