R2A was commissioned by Rutgers to design numerous renovations and fit-outs for the award winning and nationally recognized Rutgers English Department. These projects spanned over several floors of the multi-floor building on the College Avenue Campus. Two specific projects for Rutgers English Department were Writers House and Plangere Writing Center.
The building is historically significant. The Scope of Work included Programming, Planning, and complete architectural, interior design, and engineering. The work involved designing new Lecture Rooms, Writing Labs, Administrative Offices, and Classrooms. R2A was responsible for the complete interior design including the research, recommendation, selection, and specification of the furniture and fabrics.
The building’s mechanical and electrical systems were upgraded to accomplish the improvements. This included new HVAC units, upgrades to the electrical systems, and the upgrades to the low voltage wiring systems for High Tech Smart Boards.
