Description
Unite Here Health (UHH) provides health benefits that offer high-quality, affordable healthcare to participants at better value with better service than is otherwise available in the market. For several decades, they have served union workers in the hospitality, food service and gaming industries with locations in Chicago, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. R2Architects, in collaboration with R2Interiors, led a multi-phase, large-scale planning and design initiative for the transformation of an existing +/- 45,000 SF ambulatory medical facility located at 1801 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ. The projects included:
Comprehensive Healthcare Facility Master Planning & Strategic Interior Design Implementation
This effort encompassed a full-spectrum master planning and architectural design strategy aimed at modernizing and optimizing healthcare delivery across three floors of the facility:
- 1st Floor: +/- 5,000 SF
- 2nd Floor: +/- 20,000 SF
- 3rd Floor: +/- 20,000 SF
As part of the master planning scope, we provided:
- Detailed existing conditions assessments and space plans
- Strategic blocking and stacking diagrams to support future growth and departmental adjacencies
- Conceptual space planning to guide long-term development
- A 3D massing model to visualize spatial relationships and potential expansion across all three floors
Interior Finish Brand Standards Development
R2Architects also spearheaded the development of Outpatient Clinical and Non-Clinical Interior Finish Brand Standards for the facility. This included:
- In-depth research into healthcare design trends and evidence-based materials
- Recommendations for cohesive, durable, and patient-centered interior finish palettes
- Alignment with the client’s vision for a state-of-the-art medical environment
Key Departmental Relocations & Fit-Outs
To support evolving clinical needs, R2Architects and R2Interiors executed targeted relocations and interior fit-outs for critical departments:
- Quest Diagnostics Laboratory
- New location: +/- 1,300 SF
- Full architectural and interior design services for lab functionality and compliance
- Radiology Department
- New location: +/- 1,700 SF
- Includes Digital X-Ray Room, Ultrasound Room, and supporting spaces
- Designed for patient flow, privacy, and advanced imaging technology integration
- Reconfiguration of ~ 20,000 sf of office space.
- Expansion of the existing Physical Therapy.
- Reconfiguration of Primary Care Doctor’s office.
- Expansion of Pharmacy.
